Mascot Squad

For the 2026 season we will offer a Mascot squad for our youngest athletes ages 5-6 entering grades K-1st with no cheer experience. This team will be similar to our recreational squads and will focus on fun and fundamentals. Mascot registration does not include tumbling.  Athletes will also be provided with a practice T Shirt.  Mascot squads summer practice will be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6-7:30 at Jesuit High School.  School year practice will be Wednesday and Thursday nights from 6-7:00 at Jesuit High School. Mascot squad will perform a showcase routine at the SAC league competition in November.

 Recreational Squad

All athletes make the team (we do not do cuts) and will be placed on the squad that best matches their age, grade, and SKILLS. Recreational teams are open to athletes age 7-11. The recreational team registration includes a practice T shirt, 3 bows (game day, competition, breast cancer) and clinics. Recreational teams begin practice at the beginning of July.  Recreational team practice schedules will be posted later this spring, but during the summer most teams will practice 4-5 days a week 6-8.  During the school year teams will practice 3 days a week. Younger teams will practice till 7:30 while older teams will practice till 8.

New for 2026 all teams will have an evaluation day.  This will allow us to better place athletes based on age and skill levels.

Competitive Squad

While cheer is open to everyone the competitive team will have a higher skill and commitment expectation. Athletes on these teams can expect their season to go July- January. Athletes will travel to competitions outside the Sacramento/Stockton area in December and January.

Competitive athletes are expected to have mastered all beginning tumbling skills (front/back roll, round off, cartwheel, front and back walkovers preferred), and be working towards front/back handsprings. Competitive athletes will also be expected to have intermediate stunting skills (prep lib, 1/2 up extension prep, 1/4 cradle).

The competitive team will attend more competitions throughout the JJM season, have longer practices, and will require a higher level of commitment and focus from cheerleaders and their families.  The competitive squad registration will not include tumbling, however athletes are expected to take tumbling classes outside of practice times.

Practice schedules will be given after tryouts.  Athletes selected for competitive teams will attend more competitions and have a higher registration fee, which will be billed after tryouts.

*Tumbling clinics will be held offsite and times may vary. All other practices are held at Jesuit High School on football practice fields.
